Workshop Speakers
Nathaniel Brinn is a principal of Vital Financial, LLC, a venture capital group that invests primarily in business application software companies. He is also President of CR Certification Corporation, a Vital Financial portfolio company built upon a proprietary software platform that offers cardiac emergency assessments, certifications and related services in conjunction with insurance providers. Mr. Brinn was previously EVP of Corporate Development at Webster Financial Corporation, responsible for M&A and strategic initiatives, and was CEO of HSA Bank, a division of Webster.
 
Donna Brooks, a partner at Shipman & Goodwin LLP, has 25 years of experience advising clients in diverse industries, including healthcare, technology, services and manufacturing. Donna assists her clients in operations, governance, finance, raising capital, security offerings, equity compensation, joint ventures, and M&A. Donna also represents financing sources, including venture capital funds, other private investment funds and governmental lenders. Donna is a long-time participant in the venture community.
 
Doug Campbell has a wealth of successes and experiences to draw upon - five business startups; Fortune 100 Strategic Planning and Marketing Director experience, 10 years teaching MBAs/undergraduates, and over 10 years as an Executive & CEO coach.
 
Peter Hicks manages Webster Bank’s Emerging Growth and Technology Group. His group has been providing financing, banking and investment services to Venture Capital or Private Equity backed technology and life science companies throughout the Northeast for the past ten years. Peter has more than twenty years of banking experience as well as serving as VP of Operations and Finance for a Bridgeport, CT based manufacturing company for six years.
 
Paul Hughes, a partner at Wiggin and Dana, is experienced with the operation of both mature and emerging growth companies in a variety of industries including energy and utilities, information technology, clean technology, telecommunications, biotechnology, health care services, and outsourcing. Paul regularly represents clients in the areas of debt and equity financings, M&A, joint ventures and strategic alliances.
 
Dave Jenkins is an assurance partner in PwC's Connecticut practice. He leads the audit and accounting advisory activities at a number of public and private companies in the Northeast. Dave has experience in the software, medical equipment, life sciences and private equity sectors. He has also assisted companies with many different transactions including venture capital equity funding, private equity buyouts, going public transactions, and strategic aquisitions.  
 
Gregg J. Lallier is a principal resident in the New Haven office of the Firm. As a member of the Firm's Venture Capital & Emerging Companies, Intellectual Property, Business Law and Commercial Lending practice groups, Mr. Lallier provides assistance to clients at all stages of business development. His advice extends to incorporation and entity formation, stockholder and member agreements, stock warrants, stock issuances, board, shareholder and member meetings and consents. He provides guidance and drafts agreements and documents for asset purchases and stock purchases; licensing of technology, copyrights, trademarks and patents; non-disclosure and non-competition agreements; organization and the conducting of debt and equity issuances; development of employment policies; protection of assets, including intellectual property assets; and the negotiation of mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures.
 
Frank Milone’s in-depth knowledge of businesses in technology, medical devices, manufacturing and service was already well established when he co-founded FML. Companies that have since benefited from his expertise include ADVO, Inc.; The Stanley Works; NetKey, Inc.; Premise Corporation; Orthocon, Inc; and SmartEquip, Inc. The range of his experience includes companies in all stages.
 
Daniel Wagner is responsible for evaluating investment opportunities, structuring new investments and monitoring portfolio companies for Connecticut Innovations.  Dan has been involved in CI’s investments in Cara Therapeutics, FMP Products, Helix Therapeutics, ShopText and Soft Tissue Regeneration.  Dan also helps to administer Connecticut’s $100 million Stem Cell Research Fund in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Public Health. He has over ten years of extensive experience in research and development, technology assessment, and implementation of next generation scientific technologies.
