The Cure Violence Global team mourns those killed, injured, and traumatized yesterday at Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.

Today is the fifth anniversary of the mass shooting that claimed the lives of 17 students and teacher in Parkland Florida, as well as the 15the anniversary of the shooting at Northern Illinois University that claimed 6 victims in DeKalb, Illinois.  Already this year there have been dozens of mass shootings as well as high levels of violence in cities across the United States.

In the face of these tragedies, we call on everyone to stay resolute in our rejection of the violence.  These violent events are not normal, and we all must commit to continually and relentlessly rejecting this violence in our communities and our nation.

This latest event is heartbreaking beyond words, as are the many violent tragedies around the world.  These are all unacceptable and preventable tragedies.

Cure Violence Global calls on the leaders at every level of government in the United States, to enact policies that can more urgently, aggressively, and effectively prevent violence.
